The AMES Foundation, led by investor Marlon Braumann, works in southern Africa to protect endangered species – and creates FOMO with a premium network and unforgettable experiences. Can this work?
An excerpt:
Somewhere in the middle of nowhere in South Africa, a group of five German CEOs, investors and marketing specialists in their mid-20s to late 30s are sitting in a semi-circle on faded purple-green camping chairs, looking together at a three-legged whiteboard. It’s warm. Bare toes dig into the dry grass, the smell of sunscreen and mosquito spray. On the folding tables are sunglasses and several iPhone 12s, on one a power bank next to an empty coffee cup, on another a can of Red Bull.
Today they are discussing which new species should be introduced into the reserve they have been monitoring for the past few days. “Whether we get lions or not is a big decision,” says one of the participants. “I agree, it has a big impact,” replies another – team meeting at the AMES Foundation.
